As a longtime advocate for sustainability and innovative energy solutions, Nancy Hamilton has worked for decades at the intersection of the public and private sectors, forging partnerships between members of government, business professionals, and industry experts. After serving in executive positions in both city and state government, Nancy has returned to the private sector as Director of Business Development for McKinstry in Oregon, where she continues to support carbon footprint reduction through a focus on helping Oregon's built environment operate more efficiently.

After moving to Portland thirteen years ago, Nancy got her start in Oregon politics when she served as campaign manager of the Children's Initiative, which provides over $10 million annually for kids' programs. She also helped pass Measure 26-48, which provided critical funding for area schools at a time when they were facing staggering program cuts. She continues to promote educational efforts, including the STEM Educational Coalition, which has partnered with McKinstry to advance student achievement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

In 2004, Nancy led Tom Potter's successful mayoral campaign and served the City of Portland for two and a half years as his Chief of Staff. Nancy then moved to the Oregon State Capitol, where she served from 2007-2010 as senior policy advisor for former Governor Ted Kulongoski. In that capacity, she helped redesign the state's approach to economic development and reshaped how Oregon's workforce system interfaces with the business community. Nancy also served as the Governor's representative on the Green Jobs Council, which recently unveiled a recommended roadmap for leveraging Oregon's competitive advantage in renewable energy and green industries in order to move the state forward during the economic recession.

Nancy's passion for cutting-edge innovation and smart development made her current position at McKinstry a natural fit. Her depth of relationships and broad understanding of Oregon's market landscape make her a valuable asset to the design/build community as McKinstry's diverse offerings continue to evolve and grow.
