From helping Portland plan and design some of its greenest developments including EcoTrust, the Brewery Blocks and New Columbia, to envisioning a sustainable future for Portland in studies like the Lloyd Crossing Sustainable Design and Development Strategy and Portland Community College’s Net-Zero Campus Strategy, Tom Puttman has continually pushed to redefine infrastructure to create a more sustainable built environment. Through project efforts in North America, South America, Europe and Asia, Tom has considerable experience in sustainable infrastructure planning and design, finance, regulation, and management and is well-versed at translating the principle of sustainability into implementable infrastructure systems that are replicable throughout the communities in which he works.
Tom is a member of Portland’s Watershed Advisory Committee and the Portland Plan Advisory Committee. Tom has also been involved in the development of numerous sustainability and green building guidelines and policies including LEED for Neighborhood Development, the Sustainable Sites Initiative, Portland’s Watershed Management Plan, and Portland’s Greenstreet Policy.
Tom is a professional civil engineer (PE), certified planner (AICP) and LEED accredited professional (LEED AP) and holds degrees in civil engineering and city and regional planning.
